The pause that refreshes

A few years ago this was the advertising line with Coca-Cola, maybe it still is, I don’t know.

I DON’T KNOW.

The point is, saying “I don’t know” is refreshing. Literally!! Saying, and knowing, that I don’t know refreshes; you refresh yourself and simply start again.

This a follow-on from yesterday’s post Where Am I? – which I expect was very confronting for some people, because it is quite radical in its denial of all that we think we do know.

sgt schultz

Sergeant Schultz said “I know nothing!”, Manuel in Fawlty Towers would say, “I know nothing!” And then Dante: “In the middle of the journey of our life I found myself within a dark woods where the straight way was lost.”

To anyone who finds “I do not know the thing I am, … “ confronting, insulting, irrelevant, untrue, etc., lighten up! I say just use it as a means of entering a meditation, that’s all.

It’s the pause that refreshes!
